What It's All About

I am a woman in my early 20's, on an average salary that disappears on bills, rent, food...GONE! However, I still manage to keep on top of fashion trends; in fact it's a passionate obsession. I pound the high street in heels hunting for the ultimate fashion find. I have fashion magazines glued to my hands, a costly fixation with handbags and a belief that accessories are the base for any outfit...yes; I will plan an entire outfit around a new watch, earrings or ring! So, my reason for starting a blog? I have to share all my top tips and fabulous finds with someone! My boyfriend seems somewhat un-interested in all this. I always have something I want to shout about, so be prepared! Signing off. BB x

This Season -The Skirt

Whilst a printed skirt can look fantastic, it's probably the least flexible item in any wardrobe. Think "how many different ways can I wear this?" And the answer will be....! Although this skirt is lovely, how adaptable is it?

Topshop at ShopStyle

To avoid the unnecessary expense of a skirt you'll maybe wear a few times, try experimenting with a variety of plain coloured skirts in different shapes and styles. The high-waisted pencil skirt is still on the scene this winter. This black scalloped skirt by Miriam Ocariz is great for day into night wear as it can be styled in many ways. Wear with a crisp white shirt at the office then swap for a sparkly vest and dazzling sandals to take you through the night.

Another key skirt this season is the leather. Although pricey, well worth investment. My absolute favourite style is this pleated skirt by 3.1 Phillip Lim, seen here in my Lovely Leather Look.

Lovely Leather

Lovely Leather by Beau Blogger

It's tough chic, such a harsh fabric but a beautiful, floaty shape; you almost forget its leather you're wearing. The styling options for this skirt are endless.
For the lower budget there are some excellent leather look skirts on the high street. This one from New Look (£45) is a great alternative.

New Look at ShopStyle

So, to sum up; the most efficient way to skirt hunt is to invest in 1 or 2 edgy yet adaptable skirts to see you all the way into S/S 10.

Designers Customise - Vogue

In the More Dash Than Cash November issue of Vogue there is an article in which designers upgrade items of clothing. My favourite piece is by designer Emma Cook. She used Swarovski crystals and glitter ribbon to transform a boring pair of leggings into a pair of glam goth must haves. I can't wait to try this and will be popping to the haberdashery pronto. Costume Jewellery

We all have different reactions to cheap metals and if you're anything like me, you turn green like a monster after 5 minutes of wearing it. To avoid this, paint the inside of rings and bangles with clear nail varnish and this problem will just disappear. Magic. BB x

Big Trend Alert - 80s metallics!

Big trend this season! No matter how big or small you do it, you just should. It's coming up to party time so why not glam up with a metallic party dress?! Lipsy have got just the ticket, ranging from £40 to £65. Not bad!

Metallics are hot! So ensure your A/W wardrobe is full of it, it comes back every year so a good investment I say. However, don't wear too much at once...this is not hot!
Here I've created a day to night look. For the day, wear this shimmering body with black shiny harem pants. Over the top put on this amazing knit cardi to create texture and interest. Chunky boots and a large leather holdall gives this outfit a solid look.
For night, slip on these woven peeptoe boots, and a statement strand necklace. Loose the huge bag for this great little dome bag, slap on the neon nail varnish and glitter up your eyes. Now where's the party?!

If you're not sure you feel confident in metallics, accessorize with it instead. It looks amazing with black so it's really easy to add a few pieces to your favourite outfits.

I love this bronze dress styled with a sequin cape, chunky belt and a clashing red clutch. Of course styled by me!

Go on then, go out and update your look with some lovely shinies.

Blazer = Serious Style Points

My perfect choice is this boyfriend blazer by the Monsoon Fusion range for £65. If you're an average size, this style is very slimming as it elongates your body. It's a lovely shape and has a pretty pink lining.

The cropped blazer is awesome, but if you have any love chub, avoid this like the plague! A good place to start is with a basic suit blazer...go on...look in your wardrobe...I bet you've got one! When choosing a blazer ask these questions: Do you have a booty to be proud of? If yes, go for one that sits just on the top of your bum. Or a crop, like this one from Topshop (£45).

If no (or you think you don't...but probably do) and want to cover up, opt for a longer style with a long V opening at the front. Try to get one that is well fitted to create a bit of womanly curve. Throw it on over anything to instantly complete an outfit. VOILA! BB x

Leather Glove Lovelies

A must! Woolly ones are sometimes great sometimes great and there are some beautiful styles about this season. However, to avoid fluff in your eye, opt for leather. They're an easy way to inject a little leather into your A/W wardrobe. Accessorize have a wide selection. Obviously the more expensive, the better the leather. So if you can afford to..make a little investment this winter. Have a look at shopstyle.co.uk for inspiration. BB x

The Super Sharp Shoulder

Ok, so it's absolutely huge on the catwalks, kicking off with Balmain. The sharp shoulder does give a fantastic silhouette, creating the illusion of a smaller waist.
However, walking down the street with gigantic shoulder pads might turn a few heads. In London maybe, but for the rest of UK it's difficult to get away with. so rummage through the highstreet rails to find some less dramatic styles. Start in Topshop, they have some fantastic tunics with dignified shoulders and beautiful embellishment for around £40. Monsoon Fusion have merged this seasons florals with the sharp shoulder creating a softer, less domineering look.

But it really is down to trial and error, keep trying until you find a style that feels right and suits you. Every one of us should have a super sharp shoulder, but ladies, wear it with confidence...!

Jeggings - Do It Right

Beyonce looked incredible in them and now everyone's asking "is it right?"
This look can be amazing...OR very, very wrong!

Pros :
  • They create a smooth silhouette.
  • They tuck into boots with no hassle.
  • They are so comfortable.

Cons :
  • If you have the slightest bit of cellulite...it shows!
  • There is nothing left to the imagination.
  • WEDGIE!!!

Fashion Foward Jeggings

ShopStyle Jeggings @ the beau blog

So they've been the debate on forums for a few months now, my conclusion:
If you have the body of a goddess, by all means wear them with a cropped tee or fitted top. For the rest of us, wear with a long top to cover your bum. I suggest your boyfriend's shirt. Accessorize with a huge belt, another layer and some fantastic jewellery. Slip on some shoe-boots and be on your way.
